Content Strategist
Overview
Grafik is looking for an experienced Content Strategist who is energized by creating compelling, thoughtful content programs and has a deep understanding of SEO, GEO, and AI-driven strategy. In this role, you’ll lead the development and execution of content strategies that perform for traditional audiences and SEO as well as emerging AI-powered platforms.
You’ll work on a diverse portfolio of content, including thought leadership, optimized web content, landing pages, email, and social. In addition to your role in the Marketing Services team, you will also work closely with our UX team to craft website content strategies that deliver unique user experiences to support our clients’ brand awareness and lead generation activities. You’ll analyze performance, audit front-end and back-end execution, and craft optimization plans. This role is client-facing and will actively lead internal and external ideation and brainstorms, as well as contribute to overall agency thinking.
This position is located in the greater Washington D.C. market.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead discovery and strategy phases of website and digital experience projects, including content audits, UX research and testing, and persona and user journey development
Collaborate on sitemap development and information architecture deliverables, producing in-depth page stories to outline the goal, audience, and structure of new pages and content types
Collaborate with other members of the Marketing Services team, as well as external partners, to implement and scale content strategies
Conduct keyword research, search intent mapping, and content gap analyses to inform site architecture, page strategy, and SEO plans including schema, metadata, and AI discovery
Devise content strategies that support organic growth as well as convert new and existing customers for clients (i.e. outlining proposed content pillars, editorial calendars, nurture email campaigns, etc.)
Develop content governance guidelines for tone, style, and voice of content
Coordinate with freelancers, creatives, and designers to brief them on the client stories that will be told through editorial content, infographics, visuals, etc.
Collaborate with Marketing Analyst to define KPIs, and track and calculate content ROI
Skills and Talents
Working understanding of GEO and AI-driven content ecosystems, including how LLMs surface, summarize, and prioritize content
Survey development and UX testing tool knowledge (Qualtrics, HotJar, etc.)
Ability to maximize usability and accessibility of content
Excellent writing and editing skills (able to provide samples)
Content management experience (WordPress preferred)
Certified in Google Analytics, with experience measuring content performance and translating into executive-level insights
Strong research and storytelling skills, with the proven ability to distill complex information into actionable narratives and takeaways
Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and client contacts
Multitasking and organizational skills – you will have to handle several types of projects and people regularly
Education and Experience
At least 3 to 5 years of content strategy experience at a branding or marketing agency or on an in-house marketing team
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or Communications
Proficient working in Keynote, WordPress, Microsoft 360 and Google Suite tools
HubSpot or equivalent CRM certification
Google Analytics certification
